UPDATE: Read the full Santorini Review here.Santorini Box

From time to time I find a unique board game that is so well done, so detailed, that’s really hard to believe how much thought people gave to it and Santorini is this game for me.

With amazingly simple rules (move, build, reach the third level and win) and very fast play time (around 15 to 20 minutes), it’s really a game to have and enjoy hours of fun. You can play a thousand times and have different results every single time with an amazing replay value. Every god card you play will give you different abilities and completely change your strategy.

I can hardly find the words to describe all you can get from such a simple game, so I’ll try to organise my thoughts a bit and explain what I mean.

Santorini The Real PlaceLet me talk more about the game components. Have you heard about the Santorini Islands? The game is entirely based on it and the board replicates the cliffs where Santorini houses where built. It is a 3D model of the cliff with 25 squares where you can place the buildings, which are also replicas of the most famous buildings in the island and really gives you the sensation that you’re playing with the city. You also have 2 builders for each player and they are very nice done. The cards of the game are also well detailed with illustrations of 29 gods.

This game is for 2 or 3 players and I’m so excited with it because it’s one of those were you use pure strategy and you enjoy every single time you look to it. I’m pretty sure that everyone will want to play it.

Here’s a full game play video with just 14 minutes:

Santorini – Kickstarter Details

Santorini Board GameYes! I already backed this project and can’t wait for my copy!

If you’re also excited about it, you can jump into the Kickstarter page and also make sure you get your copy from $65.

This project is already backed with more than 3 times the original goal value of $85,000. There are just 3 more stretch goals to be unlocked and I believe it’ll be easily achievable with 19 more days to go.

The Kickstarter will end on 28th of April 2016 and will start shipping in November.

Thanks Roxley Games for this amazing board game! I’ll definitely do a full review about it when I get my copy.

Did you like it? Are you also backing this project? Tell me in the comments. 🙂

  1. Wow! this sounds like a fun game. I really miss the times when the family would sit down and play card games. We used to have so much fun. Now everybody is on their own computer playing separate games.
This sounds like a game that couples or a small family could play together and have lots of fun. Thank you for taking the time to review it. I’m glad I heard about it and will be on the lookout for it when it comes to market.

Hi Liz. It does sounds like fun. 🙂
If you’re really interested I’d advise you going for the Kickstarter as they have a better price and you’ll get it before anyone else.

  2. I have heard about the Santorini island of the Cyclades, Greece. I had no idea that they made a board game based on the island. This sounds so exciting! I am a fan of board games and will play whenever I do get the chance to play.

I like the Kickstarter page which does go into a lot of details, especially the many Gods that is included. The Santorini board game will definitely be one to keep and play with my household from time to time. I truly appreciate your review and I will be looking out for more in the future.

PS: I liked the Santorini video that you shared too, it shows how easy the game can be played and enjoyed!

    Best,
    Jason

      Hi Jason,
It’s really exciting seeing how the islands fit so well for the game (or vice versa).
I really enjoyed the amount of time and details on this board game.
      See you soon.
