There is some recent good news in the fighters’ world: Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Dragon Ball Z Board Games will be launched in 2017.

Street Fighter Board Game

Jasco Street Fighter Board GameJasco Games have announced a new partnership with Capcom to produce a board game with Street Fighter miniature characters.

They’ll incorporate some iconic characters like Ryu and Akuma to their Universal Fighting System, a collectible card game to be played in a one-on-one battle.

Their license will allow Street Fighter Board Game to be published in the whole world, except for Japan.

Mortal Kombat Board Game

Jasco Mortal Kombat Board GameJasco Games also announced a Mortal Kombat Board Game in the same way as Street Fighter. It’ll be a miniature game linked with their Universal Fighting System, allowing both board games characters to compete against each other.

Some of the characters that are already confirmed are Ryu, Sub Zero and Scorpion.

Dragon Ball Z Board Game

Jasco Dragon Ball Z Board GameAs with the previous two board games, you can thank Jasco Games again for announcing a new Dragon Ball Z Board Game. It’ll also be integrated with their UFS (Universal Fighting System) and will include miniatures of Dragon Ball Z characters. It could be different as it will also be playable in a kind of mash-up with the previous two announced board games.

The three announced board games will contain miniatures and involve a mix of card, dice and board systems. It’s a really interesting idea that will allow the producer to sell extra characters outside the box and also create a collectible market.

It’s not confirmed yet if they’ll release it as a Kickstarter project or if they’re already founded, but all will be revealed with the release date expected to be in 2017.

The big question, in this case, is if Jasco will be able to handle all deadlines involved in this process and all the pressure from the public for these big franchises. Their history is not very optimistic, but they say that there’s plenty of time to plan and organize everything before launch. Time will tell. 😉

Playing board games since I was 8, I created a passion for different styles such as Strategy, Cards, Family and Role Playing Games. My current favourite board games are Ticket to Ride, Tokaido and Rummikub.

I definitely will Mario. This is on my radar as well. Looks pretty cool, but I’m mostly interested in the miniatures to be honest. It has potential.

  2. These board games will be very interesting in how they play out. I can’t imagine a Street Fighter or a Mortal Combat board game so that’d be great to see and see how sales with each one do. I know DBZ has a giant following, actually they all do. They’ve all been around forever and are successful franchises so they should be received relatively well I would think. But, time will tell! Interesting news thanks for sharing!

I agree Rob. They are successful in al their franchises, from TV to video games. It’ll be really interesting to see how every one of these will sell.
      I’ll keep you guys posted.

  3. I love street fighter and so does my husband. We have twins and their middle name is Ryu and Ken. I cannot wait for the board game to come out. I hope you update us!
